How do I get from Keflavik International Airport to Reykjavik?

The international airport in Keflavik called Leifsstod is relatively small and easy to navigate. Once in the arrival hall there are a few transfer options;

Flybus and Airport Direct, shuttle transfers to hotels in Reykjavik are found right outside the terminal building. Even if arriving late at night or a flight is delayed, do not worry, there will be a bus waiting. The transfer buses depart from Keflavik Airport 35-40 minutes after each flight arrival.

The buses drive to BSI Bus Terminal in Reykjavik, where travelers can board smaller busses that take them to the major hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavik. Total duration of the trip is 50-75 minutes from the airport to the accommodation.

If travelers have pre-booked transfers with Flybus or Airport Direct then the Iceland Travel documents with the confirmed service should be displayed to the driver. This is valid as a ticket/voucher for the transfer.

Private transfers drivers will be waiting in the arrival hall with a name of the client on a sign.

Car rental desks are located on the left-hand side in the arrival hall. This is the place to go to for picking up a rental car. The travel documents will specify the car rental company associated with each booking (usually Hertz).

If travelers have not booked any transfer in advance, it is possible to buy a ticket with bus transfer companies on the spot. Taxis are always available outside the terminal building, and they accept both credit and debit cards. Uber is not operating in Iceland.
