The Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths are located along the popular Golden Circle route. The relaxing pools and steam baths sit near a natural hot spring that Icelanders have been visiting since 1929. The new and modern facilities include three natural steam rooms and three interconnected mineral hot pools.

Laugarvatn Fontana baths let you experience the unique healing and relaxing powers of geothermal springs. You can soak in a natural pool, listen to the bubbling hot spring in the steam rooms or relax in a Finnish style sauna. Furthermore, if you are feeling adventurous you can take a dip in the nearby refreshing Lake Laugarvatn. Studies show that cold bathing has beneficial health effects such as improving blood circulation and easing sore muscles.

Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Bakery

Laugarvatn Fontana has a café that serves homestyle Icelandic food with a healthy twist. The café bakes its own sweet rye bread using natural geothermal underground “ovens”. Each day guests can join a staff member on a scheduled walk from Laugarvatn Fontana to the geothermal bakery located next to Lake Laugarvatn. There, bread has been baking in pots in the warm ground for 24 hours. Guests learn about geothermal baking as they watch the staff member dig out a pot of bread. Of course, they also can get a taste of warm bread topped with delicious Icelandic butter and some smoked salmon.
